THE HISTORY
"Doula" is the ancient Greek word doulē, meaning "slave" or "female servant". Today, the word Doula refers to an experienced professional trained to provide emotional, physical, and informational support to birthing people throughout their pregnancy, birth, and the early postpartum period.
Doulas also support the birthing person's partner. We are conductors of Peace. For some communities having doula support is more than just having a positive birth experience. It could be the difference between making it through pregnancy and birth without health problems and ending up with major complications or death.

Doulas do not medically assess or assist the expectant person or the unborn child.
