ESSENTIAL DOULA CARE SERVICES

At Essential Doula Care Services LLC, we provide comprehensive birth support in hospitals, homes, and birth centers throughout the Delaware Valley.

 

Our services include:

  • Facilitating clear and supportive communication between the birthing person, their partner, and clinical care providers.

  • Collaborating with partners, physicians, midwives, nurses, and families to create a cohesive birth team.

  • Offering access to evidence-based resources and information for pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care.

  • Understanding the physiology of birth and the emotional needs of laboring individuals to provide compassionate and informed support.

  • Providing continuous care with a focus on comfort, advocacy, and well-being.
     

We offer a variety of packages that can be purchased separately or combined to create a customized support plan tailored to the unique needs of each family.

Comprehensive Care Packages

FREE Consultation

1 hour virtual or in-person meeting, to discuss your birthing needs and whether they align with our doula service offerings

  • Allows us to decide if we are a good match which is essential

  • This consultation is free of charge

The Birth Prep Package

A personalized doula support package designed to help you understand labor, experience birth, and immediate postpartum support with hands-on guidance and continuous care

What’s Included:

  • One in-person visit (2.5 hours)

  • Exploring your fears, hopes, and desires for labor and birth

  • Assistance in completing your birth preferences (plan)

  • Guidance on when to call your doula, midwife, or doctor

  • Continuous labor and birth support, plus 1-hour in-hospital postpartum care

  • One virtual postpartum check-in

Birth & Wellness Package

A comprehensive doula support package offering in-depth prenatal education including all aspects of labor preparation, continuous birth support, and postpartum guidance to help you navigate your journey with confidence and ease.

What’s Included:

  • Three in-person visits (2 hours each)

  • 24/7 after-hours on-call time for emergencies

  • Exploring your fears, hopes, and desires for labor and birth

  • Discussion on nutrition, exercise, and meditation

  • Assistance in completing your birth preferences (plan)

  • Labor and birth preparation (pain management techniques, breathing, positions & more)

  • Understanding laboring at home vs. hospital

  • Hospital expectations and preparation

  • Continuous labor and birth support, plus 1-hour in-hospital postpartum care

  • Recognizing early labor signs and progression

  • Guidance on when to call your doula, midwife, or doctor

  • Lactation and infant care support

  •  Transitioning home: What to expect after birth

  • Couple care and postpartum adjustment

  • 24/7 on-call time after 38 weeks of pregnancy

  • One in-person postpartum visit (optional)

Ultimate Birth Empowerment

A premium doula support package that builds on Birth & Wellness Package, incorporating HypnoBirthing education, extended postpartum care, and continuous support for a deeply connected and empowered birth experience.

What’s Included:

  • Everything in your Birth & Wellness Package PLUS…

  • HypnoBirthing Series: Hypnosis for Birthing

    • Five 2.5-hour sessions (Free to your spouse, doula, friend, etc.)

    • Includes a spiral textbook, audio practice MP3s, and all handouts

  • 24/7 on-call time during pregnancy for emergencies & anytime from 38 weeks onward

  •  Two in-person postpartum visits (one optional) 

  • Choice to meet in the comfort of your own home or virtually​

HypnoBirthing Package

A specialized childbirth education program that uses relaxation, breathing techniques, and hypnosis to create a calm, confident, and empowering birth experience. This package can be experienced in a group setting or in the privacy of your own home virtually or in-person.

What’s Included:

  • Five 2.5-hour sessions (Free for your companion of your choice)

  • Spiral textbook, audio practice MP3s, and handouts

  • Choice to meet in the comfort of your own home

Postpartum Package: Daytime/Overnight

The Doulas provide emotional and physical support for the new mother completing basic daily tasks so that the family can bond. EDCS offers information/education on basic baby care and lactation support.

 

Please Note: Our Primary Doula does not work in homes with smokers due to sensitivities.

 

We offer postpartum care for the Mother, Partner, and newborn infant(s), including:

What’s Included:

  • Emotional support and guidance

  • Breastfeeding/bottle-feeding support

  • Newborn care support (diapering, first bath, sleep solutions, baby-wearing)

  • Telephone support for any questions or concerns

  • Light food preparation and light meals

  • Grocery shopping (funds to be provided by the Client in advance)

  • Light housekeeping (baby’s laundry, load/unload dishwasher, and other minor tasks)

  • Accompaniment to appointments, support groups, etc.

  • Sibling entertainment

  • Errands

  • Referrals, if needed

  • Lending library of resources

  • Daytime Support (min. 4 hours)

  • Overnight support (approx. 8 hours)

Bone Closing Ceremony

La Cerrada, or Closing of the Bones, is more than a practice—it is the natural state of the postpartum journey. This sacred ceremony honors the birthing person, providing warmth, care, and a deep sense of closure as they transition into their new phase of life.

 

Postpartum healing is not meant to be experienced in isolation. It is a time of deep connection—where community, tradition, and spirituality come together to nurture the body, mind, and spirit. Across cultures, these ceremonies share common threads, yet they are beautifully shaped by climate, culture, and belief systems.
